Fwd: Tammy Lewis-McCauley has invited you to join the Meal Train for Doris Plimpton

HEY HICKORY GROVE!  This is a cool way of scheduling folks to provide some meals for someone in need.  Many thanks to Tammy Lewis-McCauley for passing this along.  If anyone would like to provide a meal for Doris Plimpton who is recovering from heart valve replacement surgery, please check out the instructions below.

Tammy Lewis-McCauley has invited you to join the meal train for Doris Plimpton...AKA GRAMMA DORIS

What is a meal train?
There are times in our lives when friends and family ask, "What can I do to help out?" The answer is usually to help them with a meal. When many friends give a meal, this is a meal train.

mealTrain.com is a free meal calendar tool that makes planning meals among a wide group easy and less stressful.

She should be discharged from the hospital this weekend.
Please forward on to neighbors, family, friends....anyone with cooking talents! She would also love a visitor here and there to share mealtime with her...when she is feeling better.

GOD BLESS

URGENT Helping Hands Project for Friday, April 12!

Hey, friends!  We have a good, fun, easy ministry opportunity for this coming Friday at 5 p.m. at Hickory Grove!  We are blessed to have the opportunity to send some clothing down to southeastern KY at Oneida Baptist Institute to help students who board there as well as locals who are in need.  And what's even easier is that the semi-truck that will take the clothes is coming to us and is parked right in our parking lot.  All we need is some man (or woman)-power and some trucks to move the clothing from our Helping Hands building across the parking lot to the truck.  You don't have to RSVP!  Just show up this Friday at 5 p.m.!  Come take a little time to help in a big way!

Fruit Recruit!

Once a month, we are going to post a "Fruit Recruit" post that simply lists opportunities to serve that our ministerial staff currently knows about and are emphasizing.  You can contact our church office any time about opportunities to serve either by phone, (859) 356-3162, or via e-mail at info@hickorygrove.net.

Here's some opportunities that we would like for you to prayerfully consider:

  • Serving as a greeter during our Sunday AM worship services.  See Pennie Grubbs, or contact our church office.
  • Singing in our adult Celebration Choir. See Kaci Stilley or contact our church office.
  • Serving each Wednesday night in our clothing and food pantry (Helping Hands).  See Dianna Noyes, or contact our church office.  You can actually just show up there at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays too!
  • Serving in our newly forming nursery ministry on Wednesday nights.  Contact Missy Harris at ext. 19 or at missy@hickorygrove.net.
  • Hosting a Life Group.  Contact our pastor Bill Clark at ext. 21 or at billc@hickorygrove.net.

God has saved us to serve!  Let's roll up our sleeves and get to work for Him.  If you want to serve in any way but are just not sure how, contact us, and we will help you become fruitful in Christ!

How Can You Serve?

We just finished up learning about the importance of serving in Christ in our "Experience Life" growth campaign here at Hickory Grove! So do you wanna serve? Let me give you some ideas. First, you can contact any of our staff about particular opportunities. I've listed their names, their contact info, the area they oversee, and particular needs they have voiced to me. Also, I encourage you to go back over to our main website, www.hickorygrove.net, and click on "spiritual gift survey." It will take you about 15 minutes to do the survey, and at the end, it will give you an idea of what your main area of giftedness is according to the gifts listed in the Bible. You will have an opportunity to send US the results, so we invite you to do so by emailing us at info@hickorygrove.net. Here is the list of some opportunities for you!  Step out in faith today and let us equip you to serve...

Share the Gospel, teach someone to read by becoming an ESL tutor

Dear Bill,

Do you sense a call to teach other to learn English, and learn more about the Bible?

A workshop for people interested in tutoring others in English as a Second Language will be held Oct. 19-20 at Porter Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington.

Many Kentucky Baptists volunteer as tutors through literacy missions, which assists children and adults in developing reading skills using a Bible-based curriculum.

The workshop will also provide volunteers insight on how to start a literacy missions group in their church or association.

Friday's session begins at 6 p.m., EDT. Saturday's session is from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The workshop is $15 per person for materials and lunch on Saturday. Porter Memorial Baptist is located at 4300 Nicholasville Rd., Lexington.

Advanced registration by Oct. 15 is required. Call Rene Bibb at (859) 223-5496.
